We know it's a hard time to think about spending money on a "vacation" - but since we already had the retreat centers booked for our retreats this year, we figured why not give our friends and their friends a break. We all need one. So, we decided to give our retreats away this year, basically at cost!

Yelapa is a jewel of a place to hold sacred circle. And Casa Isabel is remarkable not only for it's wild nature but for it's owner, Isabel Jordan, an 82 year old force of nature herself. Isabel has been practicing Shamanic healing with the Huichol Shamans who she has supported for the past 36 years through purchasing their artwork. Her collection is amazing and she sells it to us to help support the Huichol. If you so choose you can request a Huichol Shaman to give you a series of their healings while you're at Isabel's.

Yelapa is one of the last fishing villages that is owned only by the families whose ancestors lived there.  There are a number of ex-pat US and Canadians living long term in Yelapa, but it's the villagers who run it. No gringos can purchase land in Yelapa! You'll not find the tourism you see elsewhere, except on the main beach, and usually it's only day-tourists. Where we will be staying we have our own beach, Isabel's beach,  which is much more isolated. Yet, it's only a 5 minute walk around the point from town! A wonderful walk on sandy paths.

We hope you will join us this year, for our 4th Women's Circle Retreat. Each year, they are better than the last, if that is possible. Each year, we come home carrying Yelapa and our time together with us and it lasts and lasts. My Big Sur friend, Rosie, from last year's circle called me the other day and said, "Linda, you changed my life. The Circle changed my life. I will never forget it. I think about it all the time." "Women together can help each other accept ourselves, change what we want to change, and add our energy to the intentions we have for the rest of our lives...the support we give each other through deep listening is precious and priceless."

April 24 – May 1st at Casa Isabel in amazing Yelapa, Mexico

Women’s Sacred Circle Retreat

Since 2005, we have been offering our Women’s Sacred Circle Retreats in Yelapa, Mexico because of it's unique natural setting, open and warm, pedestrian-only, small village fishing community atmosphere. There are no cars, no streets, no roads, only walking trails and paths. You have no idea how different it is to live with no cars until you're there! The pace and the way we feel, think, move is so different!

Each day we’ll meet in circle as women to share our lives and support each other. We’ll practice Compassionate Listening™, a life altering skill you will take home with you and use every day of your life. Yelapa also offers us tremendous opportunities to care for our bodies, minds, hearts, and souls through yoga, bodywork, hiking, swimming, dancing, paragliding, and music. We have all the time we need to rest, read, meditate, write, quiet our minds and open our hearts away from the “normal” daily lives, cars, cell phones, computers. There is an Internet cafe, and sometimes cell phones work in Yelapa, but it's dial-up and if you so choose you can avoid them altogether! If you're someone who enjoys speaking Spanish, the locals love conversation and even make an effort to understand our worst efforts! If you love children and want to volunteer an hour or two in the small children's art center, there are always little ones who would love your attention.

At night, in Yelapa, there is much to do. Always dancing and music! And delicious places to sit and eat or take a walk on the beach under the stars or a midnight swim in the phosporesence.  Then, sleep to the sounds of the crickets and tropical forest creatures and the music flowing across the Bay. In the morning you'll wake to the sounds of dozens of birds, the hooves of horses on the stone paths, the calls of the fishermen, and the children playing or on their way to the school "upriver." If you follow them and carry on for another 1/2 hour, you'll find yourself at the waterfall, where you can swim and take in the sun. If you're hungry on your way back, you can stop at Christina's Vegan Restaurant -- itself quite a novelty located there on the river in the jungle, with a bathroom & toilet up in a funky treehouse!

On days we’re not in circle, or taking time for ourselves, we’ll have special adventures. We often visit the neighboring village of Pizota, which is an even smaller fishing village (only 26 families) just around the southern point of Yelapa, 10 minutes by boat. There we’ll be treated to a lesson in preparing corn tortillas from scratch and cooking them on an adobe stove. Or take a boat over to the beaches of the uninhabited Marietta Islands, one of the last 2 nesting grounds of the Blue Footed Booby. In the world as it is, being on the Mariettas is quite an uplifting experience. Snorkeling there provides one with endless delights and swimming there is quite a thrill for those who love the water.

Our meals in Yelapa are lovingly prepared and come from local providers. Fresh fish, homemade black beans and rice, fresh corn tortillas, salsa, guacamole, chili rellenos, salads, steamed vegetables, and an array of delicious choices of fruits, nuts, and desserts, all made with care and patience. Vegan, and vegetarian options as well.

Cost: $650 per person (lodging and all meals but one dinner included) Must register by December 31st to receive this price. This is half what we normally charge! Be sure to let us know ASAP if you're interested, as we all must put our deposits in immediately if we're going to continue to hold the space at Casa Isabel.

RECOMMENDATION:

"Last spring was a time for me when the world looked staid, and there seemed little hope of breaking out of the box. I had one specific week I had to get away, and put that week into Google along with the word "retreat". What came up was synchronicity. A group of women from the west coast, it seemed, were gathering for a  "compassionate listening circle" in a place called "Yelapa". Where?? What??

Yelapa, it turns out, is a remote fishing village accessed by tiny boats off the coast of Puerta Vallarta, and inhabited by only 1500 native residents. No cars are allowed, only donkeys who carry your provisions, and wild parakeets who carry your dreams. There are

no brick or cement houses, only "Palapas," palm frond roofs on four or more posts with maybe some bamboo walls for privacy and a sleeping loft. In your loft you are rocked to sleep under the stars accompanied by the insistent sound of the sea.

Many of these ten women knew one another, so I could have walked into an intimidating situation. But from our first circle on the
very first day, Linda Wolf pulled out her bag of magic. She is a gifted facilitator with a heart as large and colorful as all of Mexico. As each of us shared our stories, why we had come, where we were in our lives, it was quickly apparent that we were making a family. A FUNCTIONAL, safe, loving family.

And the food! Yum! Linda's partner and gourmet chef du jour, Eric, took Yelapa's abundant local fare and transformed it into such happiness for our tummies. I begged him and his inner Julia Child to come home with me, but he insisted he was already previously engaged.

At night, we cranked up the music, hoola hooped, danced, giggled, became twelve again, or dressed to the nines and went on the town. We went to a waterfall in the wilderness and swam naked, we went
on field trips and ate meals at the home of locals who warmly invited us in. We explored deep into Yelapa's amazing abundance. We explored deep into the mysteries of ourselves. It was a magical time. How happy I am for synchronicity.

If you find yourself wanting to get away from this world into an indescribably lush and beautiful setting, and doing something

really really unique with a week, treat yourself to one of Linda's retreats. It's the kind of time that will stay with you. One that you can call up from your heart whenever the world feels impossible and all too much to bear."
